What Are People Saying About You Online?

If someone was to look for you on the major search engine sites, what will they find? Better yet, what do you want them to find? You know what they say, “The first impression is what counts.” It’s important that after you finish reading this post, you type your name into the major search engine sites so you can find out your results. The Internet is ever-changing the way we do business every day. Now more than ever employers are going online to find out more about their applicants before they even consider them for a job. This is the new way of screening future employees and ninety percent of applicants don’t know this.

Some of the questions I hear a lot are, “Why can’t I find a job? What am I doing wrong?.” The problem here is that the generation X and Y have no idea the rules have changed in the job market. You can have all the experience and degrees in the world, but if the employers don’t like what they find online then they will not hire you. I’ve preached about this over and over again. If you want employers to take you seriously, it’s important you work on your online image. Again, what do you want employers to find once they look you up online? I know that for a lot of you this might not be of your concern, but to the many that are still in corporate America this is information is vital for their success.

Do You Care What People Say About You Online?

Let me start out by saying YOU SHOULD. Whether you are an entrepreneur or an employee in corporate America, knowing what people are saying about you online is very important. As an entrepreneur I am constantly working on branding myself online. Every single day I wake up I ask myself this question, “What else can I do to brand myself online?” I do my best to create a new post, video, keynote presentation, and participate in groups and forums where I can show my expertise. By doing this every day I maintain my focus and keep striving forward towards achieving my goals. What are you doing to grow as a leader on a day-to-day basis?

There are some of you that can’t answer this question. Maybe you are new to the network marketing profession and have no idea what are the things you need to do to brand yourself. The main thing here is not letting that stop you from taking action. Branding its not going to happen over night. The main thing to consider here is that everyday you can move step closer to becoming the leader your were born to be. It doesn’t matter whether you are a part-time entrepreneur or full-time; what really matters here is that you don’t let little things stop you from achieving your dreams. You came into this profession looking for a change. I don’t know what you are going through at the moment, but I do know that you have the skills, gifts, and talents to be successful. If you learn to be patient, persistent, and persevere there is nothing that can stop you.

  2. This is a wonderful blog!!

I do agree that employers search the net to research their current employees and/or future ones. I must admit that I have done some foolish things in the past, but have managed to delete those major things from past social networking sites. There’s nothing that I’m ashamed of though, but some things should not be published online. It’s an ever-changing-technologically-advanced-world we’re living in and we do need to be careful.
Instead of asking our friends for advice, we turn to Google. Instead of going to the gas station to purchase a map, we go to Google. We get sick and decide to punch the symptoms into the Google search bar. It’s amazing how we depend on the search engines available nowadays.
Now, when you speak of branding yourself, I do need to push myself harder. And believe it or not, you just motivated me to do that! Being involved in more forums, discussions, presentations, the works. I complete my Marketing and International Business degree in less than a year (and I am already working), but to get into the Marketing field and to persuade persons that you’re credible, trustworthy and that you know what you’re doing, can be very hard work. So I will take your advice.

I encourage you to keep up the good work! I just started reading your blog and you’re doing an amazing job.
Don’t stop; keep it moving and good luck.

It’s important people start building great profiles on the major social networking sites. I’m happy I was able to encourage you with this information. I wish the very best.
